  23 Haziran AB Referandumu

 23 Haziran’da belli olacak. İngiliz halkı ya evet diyecek, kalmak isteyecek veya hayır diyecek Avrupa Birliği’nden ayrılacak!

 23 Haziran’da İngiltere’de AB’de kalmak veya ayrılmakla ilgili referandum var. Bence çok az bir farkla İngiltere Avrupa Birliği’nde kalır. Eğer İngiltere Avrupa Birliği’nden çıkarsa, ekonomisinde  dalgalanma olur. Pound,  Dolar ve Euro karşısında en az 6 ay düşük kalır. Belki bir referandum daha yapılmak zorunda kalabilirler. Zor karar! İngiltere başbakanı Cameron AB’de vatandaşıyla evli AB dışındaki eşin İngiltere’de kalmamasını istemiyor. Bunu net bir şekilde  Avrupa Birliği’ne söyledi. 

 İngiltere Avrupa Birliği’nden çıkarsa Dünya Ekonomisi’ne ne olur? İşte bu sorunun yanıtı bence göreceli. Bir şey olmaz İngiltere biraz zorlanır ama 2-3 senede  toparlanır diyen de var. Geçenlerde Sayın Obama İngiltere’ye gitti,  Obama’nın dediği gibi İngiltere-Amerika arasındaki S. Ticaret antlaşması 10 senede zor imzalanır eğer İngiltere Avrupa Birliği’nde kalmazsa! Amerika Başkanı kısacası İngiltere’ye kal bu Avrupa Birliği’nde diyor. 

 Biliyor muydunuz, İngiliz vatandaşının ödediği vergiler ve İngiltere'nin diğer gelirlerinden her yıl Avrupa Birliği’ne 19 milyar Sterlin para veriliyor! Çok yüksek! Türkiye'nin Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’ne para vermesi gibi. Bu yüksek meblağı biz seve seve yavru vatana veririz ama İngiliz Avrupa Birliği’ne vermek istemiyor. Kendi sömürgeleri dışında bir de Avrupa vatandaşlarının İngiltere’ye gelip kalmasını, özellikle Doğu Avrupa ülke vatandaşlarını ülkesinde görmek istemeyen bir sürü genç ve yaşlı İngiliz vatandaşı var. İngiliz yerel gazetelerinde yazıyor bunlar, yerel gazeteleri okuyun lütfen.

Bir olasılıkla Avrupa İngiltere’ye özel bazı haklar tanıyabilir. 2016’nın başlarında sanırım Pound, TL karşısında 4.95’e kadar çıktı. Şimdi bu referandum dolayısıyla Pound, TL karşısında 4.12’ ye kadar düştü. Esas bu düşüş sadece TL karşısında olmadı. Dolar ve Euro karşısında da çok düştü. Ama 23 Haziran’da İngiltere Avrupa Birliği referandumunda “Evet” derse kesin Pound TL karşısında tekrar -en az 4.50’ye- geri döner diye düşünüyorum. Ne dersiniz? Esas bu Pound’un düşmesi işime geldi:) Bu temmuz ayında öğrencilerimi İngiltere’ye -Brighton’a- 3 haftalığına yaz okuluna götüreceğim. Düşük kurdan rahat rahat Pound alabildim. Referandum işime geldi :))) Alım gücüm arttı:)

Dünyada Kaç Ülke Bulunuyor?

Yurt dışı kaynaklı İngilizce kitapları kullandığım için derslerimde genellikle dünya ülkeleri ve kültürlerini öğrenme şansım oluyor. O kadar değişik bilgiler var ki. Öğrencilerimde benim kadar heyecanla o kitapları okurken yer yer şu soruyu bir birimize soruyoruz.

Hiç merak ettiniz mi? Dünyamızda kaç ülke var? 200 mü? 220 mi? Yoksa 180 mi?

TUIK’in resmi sayfasını incelerseniz istatistiklerde genelde 2015 itibariyle yaklaşık 195 ülke yazılıyor. Dolayısıyla 2015 yılında dünyamızda toplam 195 ülke olduğunu anlıyoruz.

Türkiye ile ilgili Resmi İngilizce Kaynaklar Nereden Alınır? Sorusuna verebileceğimiz sağlam ve yeterli birkaç site bulunmaktadır.

 Sizce bu aşağıdaki İnternet sitelerinin İngilizce olarak yayınlanması gerekli mi?

Yüzde 88 bu sitelerin varlığı ülkemizin başarı, kültür, ekonomi, eğitim vb. önemli konuları bütün şeffaflığıyla dünya ile paylaşması, dünya ülkeleri ile yapılan ortak anlaşmalarımız açısından şeffaflığımızın belirtisi olarak değerlendirilmeli ve yararlı olduğunu düşünmeliyiz. Ne kadar yalandan uzak doğru bilgileri paylaşırsak ki bu dünya ortak dili İngilizce ile ise işte belki o zaman yabancıların bizi daha rahat anlama fırsatını ortaya koymuş oluruz.

 Ancak her başarımızın detayını veya önemli kaynaklarımızın tamamı gibi önemli bilgiler ise bence %12 si eder ki asla ne İngilizce ne de Türkçe yabancılarla paylaşılmamalıdır.

What Can You Do with Your Children in London?

Suppose you were in London city. What would you do beneficial to your kids in London? Just buy some ice-cream or do shopping?. You may also do these things in your city as well. However, you may say I wish I had gone some places where my kids learn something new and useful. I advise you to take your kids to those places in London;

You’ll find most of the capital’s museums and certainly galleries put considerable effort into making their exhibits accessible to your children. Do you know that one of my best museums, BritishMuseum, over 230 years old, easily find out extraordinary collections aren’t in the least bit stuffy, and the museum’s trails really capture the attention of small minds. When I first was in British Museum, I visited every section and floor like a dream. Click here please.

There is an art centre, Camden Arts Centre, hosting regular exhibitions in its three galleries. If you go there, why don’t you go to its café where you may get rest with a spacious terrace, eat specials such as hearty sandwiches. I drank great coffee. I also recommend marshmallow-topped hot chocolate too. So if you say OK, click here 

Another excellent place for your children in London where they may have different workshops. It’s called Fashion and Textile Museum click here  and I really thanks to Mrs. Z Rhodes, designer of this museum. I’m sure when my little daughter visits there, she will be happy then.

Moreover, there are some galleries and museums , one of them is Hayward Gallery, near Embankment tube or I think Waterloo tube. Children love watching cartoons on the touch screens or just wandering around the visually confusing space created by curved, two-way mirrors. There are no permanent collections on display; instead three or four major temporary exhibitions are staged through the year. I’m sure older children prefer going there to staying in the hotel! There is a gallery, Dulwich Picture Gallery. Holidays bring yet more activities, often involving making things along a seasonal theme; Art in the garden gatherings are on Wednesdays in the summer hols and cost 2 pounds per children I think. If you say Guildhall Art Gallery, I can say it’s absolutely nice choice. You may go there by St Paul’s tube or DLR or Bank tube. Perhaps the most exciting exhibit here for children is the Roman amphitheatre that lies under the courtyard. The remains are fairly scant and only the foundations of the walls and entrance survive but the site does an excellent job of suggesting how the amphitheatre would have looked, with staggered seat printed on a screen, dynamic illustrations of gladiators and sound effects. Let me type, Kenwood House click here  English Heritage runs this majestic 17^th- century mansion perched at the north end of Hampstead Heath. Your children are likely to ignore the house and instead go fizzy at the great rolling expanse of green in front that leads down to the lake, where there are couples of excellent climbing trees to be found. You must see them please. And do not forget to take a few shots about trees! They’re very interesting anyway.

If you ask me in which museum or gallery I said Wow, Look at that! Definitely it was National Gallery where I looked most of paintings on the walls for over five hours and left the building before the doors closed. You know where it’s, Trafalgar Square. Of course admission is free, but they suppose you may donate! When I got a guide book, donated 6 pounds. Do you know that there are almost 2300 paintings to see in national gallery, all free of charge, which makes it a good idea to manage a visit if accompanied by children, lest they get overwhelmed. Therefore, alternatively children can guide their parents thanks to the Teach Your Grown-ups about Art audio tour which equips kids with a map and audio guide then asks them to relay choice snippets to their elders. Other audio guides ask children to follow secret agents or hunt for kings and queens, learning about various paintings as they go.

I’ve been to some galleries and museums but now on I’m stopping to telling them, maybe some other time I’ll keep telling them again. See you then, love your children, take care of yourself.

THE Definite Article

Today I had an English class with my hardworking students who asked very smart questions during a ten-minute break. They asked me about definite article ‘the’. Certain adjectives can be used with the definite article to talk about groups of people; For example, The unemployed are losing their last hope!

                       She’s collecting money for the blind.

Those expressions have a plural meaning: the dead means ‘the dead people’ or ‘all dead people’, but not  ‘the dead man!’. There are not very many expressions of this kind in English. The most common are. Let’s look at the list below

the deaf

the old

the blind

the sick

the mentally ill

the handicapped

the unemployed

the poor

the dead

the rich

Most other adjectives cannot be used in this way. For instance, you cannot normally say THE FOREIGN, THE HAPPY or THE DISGUSTING in order to refer to groups of people.

Some information about definite article but I think it’s enough for you.

Çarşamba Günü Ödev Yok

Öğrencilerime soruyorum “Çocuklar en çok hangi günü seviyorsunuz?”

Hepsi bundan bir ay önceye kadar “Cuma günü” derlerdi, çok basit çünkü Cumartesi ve Pazar ders ve okul yoktu. Ama artık aynı soruyu “Çocuklar en çok hangi günü seviyorsunuz?” diye sorduğumda şu yanıtı veriyorlar. “Çarşamba gününü de çok seviyoruz.” Sizce niye seviyorlar? Çok basit! Çankaya İlçe Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü okullarda yeni bir uygulama başlattı. Bu uygulamaya göre okullarda çarşamba günü ödev verilmeyecek“miş”! Tabi ki çocukların gözlerinin içi gülüyor. Kimin gülmez ki:) Ama sakın öğretmenlerimiz çarşamba ödev verilmeyecek diye hafta sonu ödevlerini arttırmasın!!

İnönü stadından Vodafone arena stadına

Ortalama iki senedir inşaatı süren eski İnönü Stadı, şimdiki Vodafone arena stadında ilk maçı Bursa spor ile yapacak Beşiktaşlı arkadaşlarımı şimdiden kutlarım.

Radyodan stadın açılışını canlı dinledim. Sayın Orman’ın konuşması heyecanlı bir o kadara da güzeldi. Konuşmada Beşiktaş’ın bütün tarihi, seyircisinden Sayın Seba’ya kadar herkes vardı. Kısacası Fikret Bey çok güzel konuştu. Azına ellerine sağlık Sayın Fikret ORMAN ve değerli gönlü Beşiktaş ile atan taraftarlar. Stadınız hayırlı olsun. Golleriniz bol olsun. Bütün Beşiktaşlı dostlara hayırlı olsun.
