PLENARY SESSION: SUCCESS WITH TEACHING
Balancing real world content with imagination and creativity
SPEAKER: JEFF STRANKS by Cambridge University Press
As students grow and develop through significant changes in their lives, their psychological needs develop and change also.
In this presentation Jeff Stranks looks at how our teaching must reflect these changes by providing different challenges to our students. The talk contains demonstrations of a number of practical ways of how effective teaching can be provided by applying the latest findings in cognitive psychology to the classroom.
Jeff Stranks holds the RSA DTEFLA and has a Masters degree in Linguistics from the University of Cambridge. He has extensive experience in ELT as a teacher and as a teacher trainer, principally in the UK with the Bell Schools, and in Brazil with Cultura Inglesa Rio de Janeiro. He is an assessor for the Cambridge ESOL DELTA examination.
Currently a freelance writer, Jeff has several titles published in Europe and is co-author with Herbert Puchta of the highly successful series English in Mind with CUP.

İngiltere Büyükelçiliği yeni bir tasarım yarışması başlatıyor. Teması ‘Avrupalı Olmak Nedir?’ olan bu yarışma, Türk gençlerinin Avrupalı olma vizyonunu genişletmek amacıyla düzenlenmektedir.
Son başvuru tarihi 7 Mart 2008
Tasarım yarışması 15-21 yaşları arasında, özellikle Güzel Sanatlar eğitimi alan veya almayı planlayan öğrenciler içindir. Adaylar A1 veya A2 boyutunda “Avrupalı olmak” teması üzerine bir poster hazırlayacaklardır.
Yarışmaya katılmak isteyenler 7 Mart 2008 tarihine kadar İngiltere Istanbul Başkonsolosluğu’na başvurmaları beklenmektedir.
Ödül: İngiltere gezisi

I've forgotten the referendum!
I tought to boycot the referendum then I changed my mind and voted for it. I think this referendum process is full of defects. Let's see something is gonna wrong very soon anyway.
Twelve Turkish soldiers had been killed in Hakkari near the Iraqi border! The terrorists attacked the military unit. Why do they walk into my beautiful country and kill us! What is the reason? I see they often try to consume our patience, they want us to attack them and make war! However, they have to know that we can really defence our territory stronger than them!

Turkey warns it may cut logistical support to the U.S

I'm looking forward to the US's quick return and want to continue to work to maintain strong US & Turkish relations! If they say no and vote for it and say YES!, I'll be so upset even other my foreigner friends will upset, too!.
